Team Biography

Nissan made its all-electric racing debut in season five (2018/19) of the ABB FIA Formula E championship. In this first season, the team finished fourth in the teams' standings with six podiums, five pole positions and 16 Super Pole qualifying appearances between Sebastien Buemi and Oliver Rowland, making Nissan e.dams the best qualifying team of the season. It ended the campaign with a maiden victory during the final race weekend in New York.

The team further improved their results in season six (2019/20), taking second in the teams' championship, scoring one victory, five podiums, a pole position, and making six consecutive Super Pole qualifying appearances.

Nissan is the first Japanese manufacturer to enter the series and is a world-leading expert in the design and manufacture of all-electric vehicles. With over 500,000 Nissan LEAF vehicles sold since the model debuted in 2010, Nissan has made use of its existing EV experience to develop its Formula E race car.

In turn, the lessons learnt on the track help shape the next generations of EVs from the Japanese car maker, with the stylish, high-performance Ariya all-electric crossover SUV set to launch in 2021.

Nissan competes in Formula E to help demonstrate the power and exciting performance of its zero-emission EV technology. For season seven, the team has retained drivers Sebastien Buemi and Oliver Rowland in cars #23 and #22, respectively.
